Between October 2004 and October 2006, Huang Xiang was the first writer-in-resident in Pittsburgh’s “City of Asylum” Program (COA/Pittsburgh) under the North America City of Asylum Network Pittsburgh Mayor Tom Murphy declared November 21, 2004 to be “Huang Xiang Day”. Huang Xiang’s creation the “House Poem” has become an important piece of long-standing installation art at COAP. It also has become a cultural attraction in the city and is regarded as one of the must-see landmarks of Pittsburgh by numerous media and publications such as Midwest Airlines magazine and Big City Travel Online by CNN. Since the poems were painted on the house, thousands of people from the U.S. and abroad, have traveled to visit this unique cultural site. Manuscripts of Huang Xiang’s early works have been collected by many university libraries including Yanjing Library of Harvard. The East Asian Library of University of Pittsburgh and Mitterrand National Library of France have collected the most of Huang Xiang’s works.

2004年10月至2006年10月黄翔应邀为北美避难城联盟（The North American Network of Cities of Asylum）属下的匹兹堡避难城（COA/Pittsburgh）首位驻市作家。匹兹堡市长汤姆·莫斐（Tom Murphy）发表公告，宣布2004年11月21日为“黄翔日”（Huang Xiang Day）。黄翔创作的“房子诗歌”（House Poem）为COA/Pittsburgh长期展出的公共装置艺术作品，也成了匹兹堡市一处人文景点，被多种出版物诸如“Midwest Airlines magazine”(《中西部航空公司杂志》)和CNN(美国有线新闻网络)的“Big City Travel Online”（《大城市旅行联网》）公认为必须参观的匹兹堡地标（Pittsburgh landmark）之一，全美各地包括国外均有人来参观。黄翔早期作品手稿及作品为包括哈佛大学燕京图书馆在内的多所大学图书馆收藏。黄翔现已出版的各类作品，迄今为止，以美国匹兹堡大学东亚图书馆和法国密特朗国家图书馆收藏为最。
